Charlene Migwe-Kagume joins Caribou with over 13 years of experience designing and managing impactful data and digital projects. Charlene has a strong focus on driving digital transformation across Africa, advocating for equitable, transparent, and inclusive digital policies and implementations. Her work spans several key sectors, including digital public infrastructure, transparency and accountability, gender, agriculture, energy, climate, health, and media. Charlene is pursuing a Master’s in Philosophy in Inclusive Innovation at the University of Cape Town. She brings a wealth of leadership experience, having been a Mandela Washington Fellow (2014) and the Chair of the YALI East Africa Regional Advisory Board, where she contributed to shaping the regional centers' leadership development programs. Before joining us, Charlene led Development Gateway’s efforts in East and Southern Africa, where she spearheaded strategy, team expansion, and partnership growth in the region. Outside work, Charlene enjoys spending time on her family farm in Nyahururu, crocheting her latest project, or exploring the natural beauty of the African continent she proudly calls home.
