Nicki McGoh
Senior Director of Space & Climate
"There is a general appetite for experimenting with new ways of doing things in development and very few things generate as much excitement and hype in this sector as new technologies. My interest lies in understanding whether or not these new approaches genuinely lead to better outcomes and, if so, how those outcomes can be achieved at scale and sustained over the longer term."
Nicki is Senior Director of Space & Climate within Caribou Digital's space and development program, Caribou Space, and has spent the past decade working on issues related to digital technology and innovation in emerging markets. Nicki has worked for a number of clients including the UK Space Agency, European Space Agency, the UK Humanitarian Innovation Hub and the Government of Oman. Nicki is particularly interested to better understand common issues that hinder or delay the uptake of satellite technologies in development and humanitarian decision making. Nicki has also worked at a country level to understand how governments can promote the growth of the Earth Observation both to improve policymaking and to generate new digital skills and employment opportunities. Prior to joining Caribou Digital, Nicki was part of a small team that founded the Global Innovation Fund, a $200m impact-first investment fund focused on supporting scalable innovations that generate social impact for the world’s poorest. Prior to GIF, Nicki was an Adviser on Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the UK's Department for International Development (DFID). Nicki started her career as a strategy consultant, working on projects across the UK, France, Spain, Ghana and Senegal in the public, private and non-profit sectors. She holds a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Cambridge and an MA from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex (UK). Nicki is based in Brighton in the UK.
